A must-have on any British Cheeseboard

Tunworth is one of the best British soft cheeses in production and has won dozens of awards to prove it, twice winning Supreme Champion at the British Cheese Awards. Its rind is bloomy and thin with a very subtle bite. The paste is dense and fatty, and oozes without running away on the board. Tunworth has a standout aroma, instantly recognisable by its mushroomy, sometimes cabbagey smell. The cheese is best when it has a strong aroma without a hint of ammonia; it should give to the touch but not be squishy. Its flavour profile is vegetal with almost truffly notes, sometimes with a hint of roasted nuts.

Tunworth is most comparable to a Camembert de Normandie, and certainly in size, shape and packaging it is very similar. However, this superb Hampshire cheese has transcended the comparison on all other fronts as its flavour and aroma are so memorable and delicious.

Tunworth cheeses are transported in Poplar boxes and these can be used to bake the cheese. Baked Tunworth is now a staple at many gastronomic establishments and it is very easy to bake at home.

If you're looking for a drinks pairing, the slightly funky and sweet appley flavours of a farmhouse cider pair brilliantly with Tunworth's strong garlicy aromas. Delicious with Paxton & Whitfield Spiced Plum Chutney (particularly at Christmas), and eaten with Paxton & Whitfield Cornish Buttermilk Biscuits.

Described by Raymond Blanc as "The best Camembert in the world". Tunworth is a must-have on any British cheeseboard.
