Taste 2021 Award-Winning Ashcombe Cheese
Wow! This beautiful, British artisan cheese was crowned 'Best New Cheese', 'Best Farmhouse Cheese', 'Best English Cheese', 'Best Washed Rin Cheese' AND 'Overall Supreme Champion' at the recent 2021 Melton Artisan Cheese Fair.
Ashcombe is a delicious Morbier style cheese, with a sweet nuttiness and a really satisfying, toothsome texture. The rind is meaty and savoury, while the paste has aromas of warm milk and hay. The flavours are comforting and rich, reminding us of melted butter and fresh hazelnuts.
The cheese is carefully washed in a special brine solution to develop its stunning bright terracotta rind and a striking line of wood ash runs through the centre of the cheese to make an impressive statement on your cheeseboard.
